Material Testing

The aluminium honeycomb monocoque was validated against FSUK SES requirements through physical testing. Three-point bending showed panel stiffness above the T45 steel baseline, confirming equivalent flexural performance. Punch shear tests recorded ~8.0 kN of core shear strength, exceeding both Side Impact (7.5 kN) and Front Bulkhead Support (4.0 kN) thresholds. Insert pull-out tests achieved 14.2 kN, almost double the 7.5 kN requirement, with failures occurring in the core and adhesive rather than at the insert interface. These results proved the Larcore A20 monocoque to be structurally robust, repeatable, and fully SES-compliant.
