I’m Alexander McFarlane, an Automotive & Motorsport Engineer (BEng Hons, 2025) specialising in chassis design, vehicle dynamics, and FEA/CFD validation.

As a previous Formula Student Team Leader, I delivered a hybrid monocoque + spaceframe chassis that achieved FSUK 2025 Endurance P2 and 2nd in Engineering Design.

Chassis & Composites Design

Experienced in monocoque and spaceframe design, laminate optimisation, and composites testing (FEA/CFD validation + scrutineering compliance).

Vehicle Dynamics & Testing

Developed suspension geometry, setups, and telemetry analysis leading to podium results at Formula Student UK 2025.

Featured Project: Aluminium Monocoque

Adhesives, Folding + Clever Jigs

I led the design and manufacture of a hybrid aluminium honeycomb monocoque attached to a rear steel spaceframe, fully validated under FSUK rules.

With CNC-routed panels, precision bonding jigs, and FEA-verified stiffness, the chassis passed scrutineering first time and became the foundation of our team’s best ever season - earning us a place in the Engineering Design Finals and taking 2nd place overall in Design.
